Carol Wilson, Editor-in-Chief
Carol Wilson is Editor-in-Chief of Telephony magazine. She returned to Telephony in 2004 as editor-at-large. She has been covering the telecommunications industry for the past 20 years. Over that period of time, she has been a founding editor of two magazines--Inter@ctive Week and The Net Economy--as well as a news and information Web site, Broadband Edge. Carol began her telecom career as news editor at Telephony in 1985, becoming Editor three years later.

Ed Gubbins, Executive News Editor
Ed Gubbins is Executive News Editor for Telephony and TelephonyOnline and is a regular contributor to Wireless Review. Gubbins joined Telephony in 2001 after a two-year tenure at Upstart, a sister publication to Telephony, where he covered the competitive local exchange carrier industry. He has covered a variety of topics, including legal and regulatory matters, switching and access technologies and various aspects of the wireless market.

Rich Karpinski, Executive Features Editor
Rich Karpinski is executive editor-features for Telephony. Rich began his career at Telephony almost two decades ago -- holding positions as assistant editor, news director and technical editor -- before returning to the staff in 2007. He has held a variety of reporting and editing positions in the technology press, including stints at Interactive Age, NetGuide, Communications Week, InternetWeek and Network Computing. In addition to his telecom/networking industry experience, Rich has covered the evolution of Internet industry since the appearance of the first Web browser, including publishing one of the first books on advanced Web technologies, Beyond HTML, published by Osbourne/McGraw Hill.

Kevin Daniels, Managing Editor
Kevin Daniels works with the design and production staffs to produce the print editions of Telephony, MRT: Urgent Communications and their supplements. Before joining the publications in 2007, Daniels had been the managing editor of Fire Chief, Wildfire and Fire/EMS Product News magazines. He has worked for the Roanoke Times in Virginia and has a bachelor’s of science degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

Chip Howard, Web Editor
Chip Howard oversees the online publication of TelephonyOnline, WirelessReview.com and MRTmag.com. Howard most recently served as Managing Editor for the print versions of those products--Telephony, Wireless Review and Mobile Radio Technology. Howard formerly was Telephony’s Associate Web Editor and a member of Primedia Business Magazines’ New Media Division. He joined Telephony in 1996 as an assistant editor.

Kevin Fitchard, Senior Editor
Kevin Fitchard covers the wireless beat for Telephony and TelephonyOnline. He also is a regular contributor to Wireless Review. Fitchard has worked for the telecom division of Primedia Business Magazines for three years. He began as a Senior News Editor for TelecomClick in 2000 and later became a roving correspondent for multiple publications, including Wireless Review, Telephony, MRT and RF Design. He joined the Telephony staff full-time in 2001.

Joan Engebretson, Supplements Editor
Joan Engebretson is Supplements Editor at Telephony and is responsible for Telephony’s Wireless Review and The Independent supplements. She has been covering the telecom industry since 1993, when she began writing for Telephony on a freelance basis. She was on staff at Telephony from 1996 to 1999, starting as features editor and later being promoted to editor-in-chief. Subsequently she was editor-in-chief of America’s Network Magazine. She returned to Telephony as a regular contributor in 2006.

Mark Donahue, Associate Editor
Mark Donahue is an Associate Editor for Telephony magazine. Previously, he worked in The Associated Press’ Chicago bureau, as well as two trade publications. He graduated from Syracuse University with a master’s degree in magazine journalism. He did his undergraduate work at Xavier University in Cincinnati.

Sarah Reedy, Associate News Editor
Sarah Reedy is an Associate News Editor for Telephony magazine, primarily covering IPTV and video. Sarah graduated with honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Journalism, emphasis in Magazine. Her previous work experience includes internships with Fleishman-Hillard, AT&T group; Telephony; Ingram's: Kansas City's business magazine; American Spa magazine, and QuizFest in NYC.

Melissa Itkin, Senior Art Director


Isabelle Debowski, Associate Art Director
Isabelle Debowski is an Associate Art Director for Telephony and Mobile Radio Technology magazines. Prior to joining the publications in the spring of 2005, she produced marketing projects for an international finance company. Debowski graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Graphic Design. She also trained as a graphic designer at Daniel Brian and Associates, an advertising firm in Rochester, Mich., before her move to Chicago.

Amy Simms, Graphic Designer
Amy Simms is a Graphic Designer for Telephony and Mobile Radio Technology magazines. She became interested in print design after working as a Graphic Design intern for Today’s Chicago Woman Magazine. She recently graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design.
